Another IN[FOCUS] event has come and gone. This year, Dani and I traveled to Charleston, SC and meet up with the greatest event filmmakers in the world. We enjoyed the presentations, chatting with old friends and making new ones. Of course, we stay current with all of our cameras, lenses, and software, but it’s important to not neglect the importance of investing in our minds.

This was our first time in Charleston and we fell in love with the city right away. Luckily we had a day or two after the conference to explore some of the historic sites before traveling back home. The SC Republican primary was in the works that week and there was plenty of GOP commotion throughout the city which was interesting to witness. Looking back at our previous IN[FOCUS] video entries, this video is very laid-back and I feel it totally represents the vibe of the city.

What a rewarding trip.

Dani and I traveled down to New Orleans last week for the IN[FOCUS] 2011 gathering. We were able to meet up with some friends in the industry that we don’t see very often and make some new ones. We were able to extend our stay in the south a few days after the event in order to see more of Louisiana and Mississippi.

And then there’s the food…oh my, the food! As our swamp tour guide stated “We deep fry everything! We don’t live long, but we live happy”. We ate lots of jambalaya, gumbo, shrimp and of course, beignets. We even had a chance to shoot a One-Take Show with the Drunken Catfish Ramblers

Apparently NOLA is know as the “Hollywood of the South”. We found this to be true when we found ourselves in the center of a Bruce Willis/Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie set. We were able to meet one of the actors (Noah Segan), a producer (David Pomier), Bruce Willis’ stunt double and more. We watched them shoot 2 or 3 shots before heading back to the airport.

This was our first time in NOLA and it was definitely enjoyable.
